About the LOB CITY

LOB CITY

After several years of playing/coaching at the parks and rec level, and being exposed to travel ball briefly last year, this was the logical next step. The competition at the park and YMCA simply has not been challenging enough. You always want to compete at the highest level possible.  You want your competition to constantly test you and push you. Travel ball will do just that and then some.

LOB CITY Basketball is a commitment to player development on and off the court through competition, targeted skill training, and the opportunity to be a part of not only a team, but an organization with one goal: to be the best ball players we can be. The cornerstone of this organization is hard work. There are no shortcuts in basketball or in the bigger game of life.

Prior to participation, a one-time registration fee of $150 is required. Also fees for your (game)uniforms will need to be collected ($245) 3 sets (black, baby blue and white with name on the jersey). At the beginning of each month ( 1st thursday of the month), dues of $175 will be collected. (Note: a multiple-child discount will be provided after the first child’s registration.) Tournament fees of $25 (shootout- 1 day 2 games) $50 (2-day tourneys 3-5 games)  will be collected prior to the first game of a tournament. Tournaments usually consist of 3-5 games over one weekend (Saturday/Sunday). Playing time will be based on the coach’s discretion. Player performance, effort level, and practice attendance will all factor in the decision.

Practice will be held twice a week (usually 2 hours per practice). Practice will be broken into groups depending on age and skill level. For instance 11u and under practice monday and thursday, 12u and older practice tues and friday. We also have skills workout that is held on wednesdays @Dana Middle school for each age group for 1.5hrs. This additional practice time will allow us to spend more time on fundamentals along with plays/strategies. Usually, parks and rec ball lacks practice time (an average of 1hr a week).  By  utilizing extra practice time,  the results will manifest themselves almost immediately.  Extra practice time will also allow us to concentrate on specific weaknesses. As a result, dribbling and shooting drills will be heavily emphasized. Players who want the most out of this opportunity will be the ones who put in the most work and practice independently on their own time.

Periodic evaluations will be provided. The coach, player, and parents will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement. (Videotaped games will be used as a tool of reference.)

Tournaments/games: Travel ball tournaments take place every weekend so we will have ample opportunities to play games. Tournaments TBA.

I look forward to embarking on this journey and the challenges we will face along the way.

Sincerely,

Coach Mike
